FSRP Team

For more than a decade, the Financial Strategies Retirement Partners (FSRP) team has worked with businesses and individuals to help them achieve their retirement planning goals. We continuously strive to help clients navigate an ever-changing financial world.

We are pleased to announce that Daniel Grossman joined FSRP as a partner on June 29, 2020 and we welcome our new colleagues Jim Monahan and Kim Hamel. 

Shawn A. Monty, AIF®

Managing Partner

Shawn has been providing wealth management, retirement income planning, and retirement plan consulting services for over 30 years. Shawn is the managing partner of Financial Strategies Retirement Partners, which he formed in 2007 along with Al Gilbert. Licensed in the mutual fund industry since 1985 and the insurance industry since 1988, he holds the Accredited Investment Fiduciary® (AIF®) designation and is a Registered Representative and Investment Adviser Representative with Commonwealth Financial Network®. He holds the FINRA Series 6, 26, and 63 securities registrations through Commonwealth while also being the OSJ for the branch office. Prior to forming FSRP, Shawn founded Financial Strategies in January 1995.

Shawn graduated from Bryant College (now Bryant University) in 1985, earning a BS in business administration with a concentration in finance. He has served in a number of capacities on the boards of Child and Family Services of New Hampshire, Bedford Friends of Recreation, and the Financial Planning Association of Northern New England. A lifelong resident of New Hampshire, Shawn has resided in New Boston since 1996 with his wife, Marylouise. Their adult son, Michael, lives in Charleston, SC.

Al Gilbert, AIF®

Partner

Al has more than 25 years of experience in the retirement plan consulting and wealth management field and holds the Accredited Investment Fiduciary® (AIF®) designation. Al is a partner in Financial Strategies Retirement Partners, which he co-founded with Shawn in 2007. Before forming Financial Strategies Retirement Partners, Al served as vice president and managing director of RSM McGladrey Retirement Resources and as area vice president for ADP Retirement Services.

Al holds the Certified 401(k) Professional (C(k)P™) designation administered by the Retirement Advisor University in collaboration with UCLA’s Anderson School of Management Executive Education. He has also served as an adjunct lecturer for The Plan Sponsor University (TPSU).  He holds the FINRA Series 7, 26, 63, and 65 securities registrations through Commonwealth Financial Network and is a Registered Representative and Investment Adviser Representative with Commonwealth. Graduating from University of New Hampshire’s Whittemore School of Business in 1990 with an economics degree, he resides in Hollis, New Hampshire, with his wife, Liz, and children, Josh and Ella.

Sarah Kenda, AIF®

Partner

Sarah joined FSRP in April 2018.  She has spent nearly 20 years in the financial services industry. Prior to joining FSRP, she worked for several investment management companies. Most recently, she was a Senior Regional Vice President at Salient Partners which specializes in liquid alternatives and hard asset investing. She began her financial services career at Federated Investors as a marketing manager. Sarah’s responsibilities continued to expand to include building relationships with financial advisors and assisting with asset allocation recommendations. She enjoys providing investment education and helping individuals prepare for retirement and other life goals.

Sarah is a Registered Representative and Investment Adviser Representative with Commonwealth Financial Network® and holds the FINRA Series 7, 66, and 24 securities registrations. She earned the Accredited Investment Fiduciary® (AIF®) designation in 2018. 

Sarah graduated summa cum laude with a BS in Communications from Bentley College. Currently, she resides in Bedford with her husband, Steve and son, Eddie.

Daniel Grossman, AIF®

Partner

Daniel has a passion for helping individuals, couples, and families create the financial lives they desire by providing comprehensive planning and investment advice. He has been providing wealth management advice for over 20 years. 

Daniel holds the Accredited Investment Fiduciary® (AIF®) designation and is an Investment Adviser Representative (IAR) with Commonwealth Financial Network.  

Daniel is a native Californian and grew up surfing. There he met his “bride” and married in 1991. Upon completing his degree in economics at the University of California, Santa Barbara in 1988, Daniel joined Mercer Global Advisors, a national financial planning firm. He traveled throughout the United States, providing customized business and personal financial planning solutions to medical professionals. 

After Mercer, Daniel spent a decade in the high-tech world as a business development manager, creating strategic relationships for two technology firms, Optronics Engineering and NuMega Technologies (later Compuware).  

In 2001, Daniel returned to his first passion of financial planning. In 2004, Daniel joined Commonwealth Financial Network.  In 2007, Daniel co-founded Acorn Financial. In 2020, Daniel became a partner at FSRP.  He has also served as treasurer of New Futures and a board member on Nashua Regional board of New Hampshire Charitable Foundation. 

Since 1994, Daniel and his wife, Kasia, have resided in Nashua, New Hampshire and they have three children David, Gavi, and Shira.  Daniel is adamant reader and listens to podcast on a broad range of topics including economics, technology, history, health, and psychology. To complement his podcasting, Daniel walks a consistent five miles per day. 

A dynamic advisor and coach, Daniel invites those who want to realize their higher financial and life aspirations to contact him.  

Forrest Butler, AIF®

Senior Retirement Plan Consultant

Forrest joined FSRP in October 2010.  He is a financial advisor and a senior retirement plan consultant, helping both businesses and individuals achieve their retirement planning goals.  With nearly 10 years of experience in the retirement industry, Forrest specializes in helping companies with every aspect of providing a retirement plan as a benefit to their employees. He services over 75 401(k) plans, and his work has helped to grow the 401(k) side of the business at FSRP. He enjoys working with individuals, providing a framework for reaching their retirement goals and/or objectives, whether it’s within their company sponsored plan, or on their own. 

Forrest is an Accredited Investment Fiduciary® (AIF®).  He is a Registered Representative and Investment Adviser Representative with Commonwealth.  He holds the FINRA Series 6, 65 and 63 securities registrations through Commonwealth Financial Network. 

Forrest graduated from the Whittemore School of Business and Economics at the University of New Hampshire with a BS in Business Administration and Management in 2008.  He currently resides in Newfields, New Hampshire, where in his spare time he enjoys running, golfing, and snowboarding.

Travis Labrie, AIF®

Senior Retirement Plan Consultant

Travis joined FSRP in March 2020.  He is a financial advisor and a senior retirement plan consultant, helping both businesses and individuals achieve their retirement planning goals. Prior to joining FSRP, Travis spent nearly 10 years at Fidelity Investments. During his tenure he helped 401(k) participants with retirement planning, asset allocation and general 401(k) navigation. Most recently he was a Managing Director responsible for 401(k) plan sponsor support, growth and retention for retirement plans with $10 to $40 million in assets. Currently, Travis is responsible for 401(k) business development and servicing several existing relationships.

Travis is an Accredited Investment Fiduciary® (AIF®).  He is a Registered Representative and Investment Adviser Representative with Commonwealth.  He holds the FINRA Series 7, 66 and 24 securities registrations through Commonwealth Financial Network. 

Travis also holds an MBA from Southern New Hampshire University and resides in Nashua, New Hampshire, with his wife and two young children.

Jim Monahan, CFP®

Financial Advisor

Jim has been a financial advisor for 6 years.  Before joining this industry, he spent 12 years as a financial analyst at Raytheon, Hewlett Packard, and Quantum Corporation.   Jim has a passion for financial education and helping people realize their financial goals.

Jim is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER ™ practitioner.  He also holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from Bentley University and an MBA from Babson College.

Jim and his wife Lila have 2 children.  They lived in Massachusetts, Colorado, and Maine before settling in Nashua, NH nearly 20 years ago.  Jim enjoys trips to the ocean, New York City, and sporting events.  He is actively involved with the Church of the Good Shepherd in Nashua and is often spotted walking around town with his Old English Sheepdog.

Michele Estey

Client Relationship Manager

Michele joined the FSRP team in January 2019.  In her role as a Client Relationship Manager, she works with both individual wealth management and corporate retirement plans clients. Michele has diverse experience in investment management, trust & private banking services, along with property management and non-profit organizations.  Her knowledge and experience in financial services and client relations makes her a valuable asset to the entire FSRP team.

Michele lives in Kensington with her husband Stuart and they have two adult daughters.  Michele is committed to her community and is active within her church. In her spare time, she enjoys gardening, cooking, hiking and kayaking.

Kim Hamel

Client Relationship Manager

Kim works with Daniel Grossman and handles all aspects of client services and support. She currently has more than 15 years of administrative support experience within the insurance and financial planning industry.

Kim graduated from Northern Essex Community College with an Associate’s degree in Criminal Justice. She has resided in NH for more than 20 years and when not working she enjoys skiing, running, cooking, reading and spending time with her husband and three children.

Erica Warburton

Client Relationship Associate

Erica joined the FSRP team in February 2016.  In her role as a Client Relationship Associate, she supports the retirement plan area of the business. She is vital to making sure the day-to-day retirement planning tasks are met and clients have the information they need.  She is responsible for quarterly report generation and all retirement plan meeting preparation.

Before joining FSRP, Erica worked in commercial real estate development.  She currently lives in the area with her husband, Brian, and son, Alec.  As fairly new residents of New Hampshire, Erica and her family enjoy exploring the different places The Granite State has to offer.

Jamie Perkins

Client Relationship Associate

Jamie joined the FSRP team in January 2020. In her role as a Client Relationship Associate, she works with individual wealth management clients. Previously, she held a similar role with another financial advisory group and brings industry experience and knowledge to our team.  Jamie has been in the customer service field for over 15 years.

Jamie lives in the area with her three children and in her spare time, she enjoys reading and cooking. You may see her on the field, cheering for one of her children on the sidelines.

Lisa Whelan

Client Relationship Associate

Lisa joined the FSRP team in January 2020 as a Client Relationship Associate servicing wealth management and corporate retirement plan clients.

Prior to joining FSRP, Lisa worked in wealth management in western NY. She has more than 15 years experience in business operations and financial management. Lisa resides in the area with her husband Doug and they have two adult children. Originally from Connecticut, Lisa is very happy to be back in New England where she and her husband enjoy visiting family and spending time on Cape Cod.

Crystal Marquis

Client Relationship Assistant

Crystal Marquis joined FSRP in April 2019. In her role as Client Relationship Assistant, she supports the daily operations of the office and greets all callers and visitors in a friendly and courteous manner. Prior to joining FSRP, she worked in customer relations for a national brand for several years.

Crystal grew up in Manchester and she and her husband Jestin now live in Bow. In her spare time, she enjoys reading, rollerblading, walking, biking and snowboarding.

Debbie Cote

Special Projects Coordinator

Debbie joined Financial Strategies as an administrative assistant in September 2001 and transitioned to Financial Strategies Retirement Partners when it was formed in 2007 as a client service manager and office manager. In June 2019, Debbie semi-retired but still joins the team to help with special projects from time to time.

Debbie lives in Bedford with her husband, Chris, and has two adult children. In her spare time, she enjoys traveling, bike riding, family vacations at the beach, cooking, and reading.
